PRIVACOM VENTURES, INC.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS:

PrivaCom Ventures, Inc., as the name suggests, was founded in 1990 as a vehicle for creating telecom enterprises.  This is accomplished by applying new advanced technologies to old infrastructure businesses. The founders are all well recognized experts serving on key National and International Scientific, Industrial and Engineering Standards Committees.

PrivaCom Ventures grew out of the idea that advanced knowledge of new technologies and operational procedures could form the basis for many new & very profitable businesses.  This proved to be exactly right, as PrivaCom Ventures led the way in so many things that we now take for granted such as:

PrivaCom Ventures Firsts:

  • The first use of directional boring in major city streets to cut installation costs for underground cable installations.  This involved being the first to economically solve the proper techniques and equipment for the job.  Installation costs fell from over $120/foot to less than $20/foot.  A 6-fold decrease.
  • The first applications of dense fiber count optical cables on a massive scale in a major metropolitan area network to reduce customer equipment costs.  And, it was profitable in less than 2 years.
  • The first applications of sidewalk pop-up fiber optic patch panels instead of manholes.  Of first 3, PrivaCom had 2 and Disney World had 1.
  • The first applications of multiple building entrances and city block loops for increased fiber optic network reliability.
  • The first applications of power utility building duct entrances for fiber optic cable telecommunications joint access.
  • The first salvaging and reuse of old Western Union wooden conduit systems.
  • One of the first joint ventures with a major power utility (Duke Power) by a telecom in a local city network.
  • One of the first joint ventures with MCI, ATT, and Sprint to provide access to the nations largest concentration of banks outside of New York City.
  • The first joint venture by a Cable TV company, i.e., McDonald Management, to build and operate its own telephone company.
  • The first joint venture with a Cable TV Company, i.e., Time Warner, to provide Cable TV service directly into downtown buildings over Fiber Optic cables.  This incorporated the first in the world commercial use of YAG Lasers for Video applications.
  • Pioneering the first commercial applications of PON’s (Passive Optical Network devices) for fiber optic video distribution networks.
  • The first joint Cable TV (Time Warner) and Telephone Company shared construction of fiber optic loops of a major City.
  • One of the first applications of advanced interconnections of Wireless Microwave, Fiber Optic Cables and Satellites to cover multi-State, and International Customers including; off-shore drilling rigs and US Navy ships.

The list goes on and on.

Wireless WiMax and Wi-Fi:

PrivaCom has decades of experience working with wireless & microwave technologies.  PrivaCom Executives are staying on top of new technologies. They even vote directly on the key Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE, Wireless Standards such as: 802.3, 802.11, 802.16, and others.  These standards cover the operations of WiMax, Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth and other wireless technologies.  By being on the leading edge of these technologies, PrivaCom is better able to make informed decisions as to how these technologies will commercially develop.  Thus allowing PrivaCom a clear advantage when investing, engineering, designing or installing WiMax and Wi-Fi Networks.

PrivaCom Ventures is presently assisting in the designs of several major metro and governmental applications of advanced wireless technologies.

BPL

PrivaCom Ventures Executives are active voting members of the Broad Band over Power Lines (BPL), IEEE Standards Working group P1675.  They have also served as past Edison Electric’s Representatives to various Scientific Power Line Carrier Groups working in this area such as: Electronic Industries Association, the Smart House Project, and etc.

PrivaCom Ventures has also help guide the BPL efforts of the world’s largest cable manufacturer, Pirelli Cable, now Goldman Sach’s company: Prysmian Cable.

PrivaCom Ventures has a clear understanding of how to apply BPL equipment and build profitable BPL businesses.

VoIP

PrivaCom Ventures has been active for several years in Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications.  PrivaCom Ventures helped develop one of the first VoIP Government applications in the United States.  PrivaCom provided the technical support to Lexington County, South Carolina for a major swap of all telecom facilities to a complete VoIP solution.  This saved the Lexington County Government significant taxpayer money, and led to a special resolution of thanks to a PrivaCom executive from the County Council.

PrivaCom Ventures is a go to company for VoIP applications, equipment selections, designs, and financial analysis.

Video
